What is Iron Horse Caisson?

Iron Horse Caisson is the Northeastern United States only Veteran Owned, Independently Operated Motorcycle Hearse Service. We provide a non-traditional alternative to the standard Limousine Hearse

What is a Motorcycle Hearse?

Our Motorcycle Hearse is a custom fabricated 2015 Harley-Davidson Road Glide with a right-side mounted side car frame with an enhanced suspension and breaks. The honoree casket is secured to a custom manufactured hearse bed with multiple tie down points ensuring safe transport. We also have a custom fabricated Urn Carrier Casket, designed to carry two standard sized Urns or one oversize custom Urn. This Casket Urn Carrier allows the honoree to receive the traditional flag draped style of transport.

Who can hire a Motorcycle Hearse?

Simply stated, EVERYONE …. Anyone can hire our motorcycle hearse for a funeral service. Iron Horse Caisson is non-political, non-denominational, non-territorial and unaffiliated. We are here to service your honoree.

What is your service area?

We are based out of Wilmington Massachusetts. Because we are the only independent Motorcycle Hearse Service provider in the North East, and being veteran owned and operated we are always willing to take on a mission. Call, text or email let us talk about the logistics and hopefully we can make that “One Last Run” with you and your honoree.

What are your service hours?

A standard service is up to 5 hours (round trip) starting 1 hour prior to the ceremony call time.

What conditions won’t you operate in?

We are NOT a seasonal operation. Our operators will ride in the rain, we will ride in the snow and so long as the roads are passable we will escort your honoree on “One Last Run”.

Can my funeral home deny me your service?

No, funeral homes must accept certain outside vendors and service providers under individual state law. Iron Horse Caisson and its service falls within these exceptions.

I want to hire Iron Horse Caisson for “One Last Run”, how does all this work?

We make it easy; call, text or email us at (see contact us tab) once we set a price and arrange for payment. Iron Horse Caisson works directly with your funeral home and their staff to coordinate ceremony times, entourage, routes and special instructions. We also work with you to manage expectations and provide seamless service.

This has to be expensive.

No, actually we take great care on keeping the operational costs low so we can provide this service at a reasonable and affordable price. Funeral Homes charge an additional fee for the use of the traditional limousine hearse this fee usually starts around 350.00 with add ons for milage over a certain distance etc.. This is a standard charge and funeral homes are very upfront with this pricing. So for a few hundred dollars more your family gets to memorialize your honoree in a truly unique way.

What are your prices?

A standard 5 hour service is $650.00. Services taking longer than 5 hours or services that require long distance travel are individually calculated and based on the distance from our office (Wilmington MA 01887) to the funeral home, including the distance (travel time) from the funeral home to the ceremony location and following on to the place of final rest. We work with family and friends on an individual level to manage cost.

Do you offer any specials or discounts?

Yes, we offer complementary service for the following. World War II Veterans, Medal of Honor Recipients regardless of the campaign, United States Military, Law Enforcement, Fire Fighter, EMT / Paramedic and Corrections Officers who have died in the Line of Duty. (Note that this service is currently limited to Massachusetts Residents where the service starts and ends in the Commonwealth).

How and when do I pay for you motorcycle hearse services?

We do not bill for services. Payment must be made in full the day before your scheduled service. We accept cash or certified checks for the cost of service (plus applicable tax). We also accept Credit / Debit Card transactions through our portal (a 3% service fee will be added in addition to any applicable tax).

What does the driver wear?

Our operators arrive ready to ride in any weather, the standard uniform is a button-down shirt, a leather vest with four-part patch, black jeans and polished black boots. Because we operate in all weather conditions operators are free to add additional protective gear as they determine to be mission appropriate. Iron Horse Caisson provides top quality gear to ensure operator safety.

Can we escort the Honoree on their “One Last Run”?

Absolutely, YES …. To the extent allowed by weather and working in coordination with your funeral director Iron Horse Caisson encourages family and friends to “Stands Up” and share the ride.

I have a motorcycle license can I drive the Motorcycle Hearse?

Sorry the answer is no. Insurance and liability concerns require all operators be employees of Iron Horse Caisson.

What won’t or can’t you do?

Obviously, we can’t do anything illegal and because we are providing services to you through a funeral home or funeral director, we are obligated to follow guidelines set by the service provider.
